Guilin
Guilin is known for having some of the most beautiful natural scenery in China. It’s famous for its karst mountains, green hills, and clear rivers. One of the most famous sights is the Li River, where you can take a boat cruise and see postcard-perfect views. Nearby towns like Yangshuo and Longsheng are also popular. Yangshuo is great for biking through the countryside, and Longsheng is famous for its rice terraces built into the mountains. Guilin is a smaller, peaceful city focused on tourism. People go there to enjoy nature, take photos, relax, and see traditional rural Chinese life.
Guangzhou
Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong Province and one of China’s biggest cities. It’s a major trade and business center, especially known for hosting the Canton Fair, the largest trade fair in China. The city has a long history and was a major port for international trade even in ancient times. Today, it’s very modern, with tall buildings, shopping malls, and a busy lifestyle. Guangzhou is also known for its Cantonese culture and food. It’s the home of dim sum, and people love going to tea houses for small dishes and tea. It’s a warm, humid city with a mix of old and new: traditional temples, colonial buildings, and high-tech zones all exist side by side.
Shenzhen
Shenzhen is a young, fast-growing city just across the border from Hong Kong. It went from a small fishing village in the 1980s to a huge tech and innovation hub today. It’s now one of China’s richest cities and home to big tech companies like Huawei, Tencent, and DJI. Shenzhen is known for being modern and futuristic — with skyscrapers, design centers, shopping, and a creative vibe. Many people come here for work, business, or to experience China’s high-tech side. It also has nice parks, beaches, and theme parks like Window of the World and OCT. The city is clean, fast-moving, and very connected by public transport.
